The 2010 hunt test season is off to a great start. We went to the Great Lakes HRC upland hunt test(3/27 and 3/28) and Ely went 3 for 3 to earn his upland title. With Billy being up for sale we ran him in one test just to prove his ability and he was awesome. 4 for 4 on the weekend is a fine start. 4 test 4 ribbons.
Here we go!!! The regular hunt test season is now officially underway. First stop was a back to back test in Wisconsin. (4/24 and 4/25) It was a great test and an even better time. We ran 5 dogs, Ely and Billy ran finished, Chaos ran seasoned, Perry and Stella ran started. All dogs ran both days and did an outstanding job. No handles and great blinds for the big dogs and steady pups with the handler shooting the gun in started. 10 test 10 ribbons.
Another fun weekend. We ran at the Essex HRC hunt test this weekend 5/01/2010 for the Saturday test. Along for the ride were Ely, Billy and Stella. Ely and Billy ran through the test clean and both picked up a nice new ribbon. Patti handled Stella to her third started pass in great style showing a steady dog that delivers to hand. 3 test 3 ribbons.
Another great weekend for our personal dogs. We changed games for the weekend and brought Ely and Billy to the Flat River Retriever Club's spring trial. ( 5/7 and 5/9 ) It was a first for both dogs and handler. Ely won the qualifying stake and Billy won the Derby. 2 entries 2 blue ribbons.
Well we are on a roll now. The GLHRC test in Fenwick Mi was another big weekend for the Kingseed crew. (5/15 and 5/16) Perry got a pair of started passes and a title while being handled by his owner Wendy. Patti titled Stella in started on Sat. Chaos (owned by Ryan Vannest) earned her HR title with a seasoned Pass on Sat and then got her first finished pass on Sun. Ely grabbed a pair of finished passes this weekend as well. The Sunday finished test was a brutal and only 6 of 21 dogs passed. We are very proud to have 2 of the 6 coming off our truck. 8 test, 8 ribbons.
It was a big dose of reality this weekend. (5/21 & 5/22) We headed of to the Wolverine Retriever Club field trial with Ely, Chaos and Stella. Ely never marked the long bird in the first series of the qual and popped on the way out to get it. Although he picked the birds up cleaner than any other dog did the pop did us in. We were allowed to run the blind anyway and he 2 whistled it. Stella at 11 months got to run her first derby and caved in to the terrain on a long memory bird and was picked up in the first. Chaos made it to the fourth series of the derby that had just 6 dogs left. She picked up the go bird and got a little confused on the memory bird and had to be picked up. She did a great job for her first derby. 3 entries no ribbons.
Back to our comfort zone this weekend at the St Claire Flats hunt test. (5/29 & 5/30) Chaos grabbed a pair of finished passes doing nearly perfect work both days. We hold a very high standard here and this dog was NEARLY Prefect. She never handled on a mark and only had to hunt on one. She lined 2 of the 4 blinds, one of which was a water blind that put more than a few dogs out of the test. Perry and Stella ran very nice seasoned test passing both days with great style and confidence. Perry needs just one more pass for his HR title and Stella earned her HR with Sundays pass. 6 test 6 ribbons.
Another drive to Wisconsin proved to be worth it. It was Winnabago's AKC test (8/7 & 8/8) and Ely did an outstanding job earning another Master pass. That makes 7 straight. 1 test 1 ribbons.
And yet another drive to Wisconsin. (8/29) We made the trip for the Sunday test at Wisill and Badger State's big anniversary hunt. Ely, Chaos and Stella all earned finished passes. Chaos pass was for her Hunting Retriever Champion Title. I should note she has reached this title never having failed a test. Perry was also along and passed a seasoned test to earn his Hunting Retriever Title. Perry also has done this without ever failing a test. 4 test 4 ribbons
It was Marshbanks AKC hunt test this weekend. Perry and Stella made their senior hunter debut and looked great. Both pups earned a pass each day. Ely did another very nice job passing his Master test. He was one of the 9 dogs from our flight of 34 to pass. 5 test 5 ribbons
What a roll we are on. It was Michigan Flyway test and we brought three dogs. Ely has now passed nine straight Master tests and did so with flawless run. Chaos ran her first Master test and blew through it showing her great talent. Stella made it through two senior test and generated a LOT of compliments from both the judges and the field. Perry went with his owner Wendy to run a back to back seasoned test and killed it both days. Congrats to P-dog and Doc Wendy on a great job. 6 test 6 ribbons
As allways we here at Kingseed Kennels gauge our success on how we do at hunt test. The dogs off our truck ran 47 test this year and we have passed all of them. We are also very proud of the fact that we jumped into the Field Trial game and ran 5 dogs in two different trials and won two blue ribbons. We firmly believe our training program is rock solid and rely on our performance to show that. We also believe that we have been blessed with some VERY talented dogs.
