Ely’s Biography

We purchased Ely from Kim Moses of Hunters Marsh as a pup.  His Pedigree is full of great dogs.  His 4 generation Pedigree has six Field Trial Champions, four Master Hunters and two HRCH.  Of course, as with all Hunters Marsh dogs, as solid a bitch line as you'll find anywhere.

Ely?s hunt test career goes as follows:
-          UKC Upland pass at 6 months old

-          Back to back Started passes at 7 months old

-

First UKC Seasoned pass at 8 months old

-

Earned UKC HR Title at 11 months with 3 straight passes

-

Back to back UKC Finished passes at Kankakees HRC 10th anniversary Hunt Test at 19 months old. (Ely was one of the 14 dogs to pass out of 42 on Sunday)

-

Two more passes is May 2008 earned him is UKC HRCH Title at 20 months old. (Ely was the youngest dog in every UKC test we ran all the way to his HRCH Title)

-          In the summer of 2008, we switched to AKC Master Hunter Tests and went 2 for 3. The test we failed was our first Master test and it was me who failed not the dog.

-

Fall of 2008 we went to Iowa to run the International Grand. Ely put together five consecutive days of outstanding work and earned his first grand pass at just 24 months old.  Ely was the second youngest dog to pass.

-       In the spring of 2009 Ely passed 8 Finished test and 2 more Master test. In the ten test combined he handled on just one mark.

-       Next we headed off to South Dakota for the spring Grand. We did not get through the second series. This is the first test we have failed that the blame could be put on the dog. I guess even Ely has a bad day now and then.

-       In the summer of 2009 Ely passed 2 more Master test to earn his Title with 6 consecutive passes. This also qualified him for the 2009 Master Nationals.

-       Tennessee was next on the agenda for the fall Grand. 426 of the HRC's best dogs showed up to take part in the fun. When the dust settled there were 74 left standing. Ely was as close to perfect as a dog can get and earned his Grand title at just 37 months old.

-       From Tennessee we headed right to Giddings Texas for the 2009 Master national. It was wet, cold and the AKC judges had set up the mother of all Master test. Ely was once again on his A game and we left Texas with a Big orange ribbon and a shinny new plate.

Ely is the type of Dog every breeder hopes to one day have in his Gene Pool.  He is a team player who is always giving his best effort.  He is as talented and intelligent as they come.  We're expecting great things from Ely in the future.

Ely is also my personal hunting dog.  He is hunted extensively in the U.S. and Canada. As good as he is at the hunt test game he is even better in the field. He picks up on average 500 game birds per season. He can hunt along side my layout blind covered in corn stubble or from his dog blind 20 yards behind me. He is ok hiding in a fence row or in the duck boat or on his marsh stand. Upland hunting is his favorite job. He is a natural pointer and will work as long and as hard as you ask him to.
